2007

The Beacon electronic newsletter launches

– CNN anchor T.J. Holmes serves as Summit keynote speaker  in November

– First series of “members only” events held: open house at Jackson Spalding

 

2008

– Mayor Shirley Franklin featured speaker at general body meeting

– First student chapter at AUC chartered (anchored at Spelman College) in September

– Ofield Dukes is Summit keynote speaker in November

 

2009

– Held “The Real Side of PR” workshop for students at Spelman College

 

2010

– Held “Meeting of the Minds” workshop with past and current leadership to discuss state of industry and vision of organization

 

2011

– Launched Quarterly Membership Breakfast series

– Launched “Lunch with Leadership” series featuring Glen Jackson, co-founder of Jackson Spalding

 

2012

– First general body elections held since 2009

 

2013

– Launched “Backstage Pass” event to give members behind-the-scenes look at the PR function of a prominent company or organization

– Updated organizational bylaws; expanded the Board of Directors to 11 individuals, the largest in organization history

– Hosted the annual National Black Public Relations Society Conference

– Named BPRS Chapter of the Year

 

2014

– Coca-Cola supports BPRS as a platinum sponsor

– Inaugural Don Perry Memorial/Chick-Fil-A Public Relations Scholarship awarded to University of Georgia student Jasmine Johnson

 

2016

– BPRS celebrates 15 Years of Impact in the Atlanta market with founders reunion and anniversary celebration
